Focus and attention
Neurofeedback for ADHD and other attention deficits
Do you need support in improving your focus and attention?
“I can’t seem to focus or pay attention!”
There’s a lot of reasons why we might have a difficult time focusing or paying attention for longer periods of time. It can leave you frustrated and helpless at getting every-day tasks done. Life can get extra stressful (and pull your focus to other things). You might have some inherited ways of approaching the world (like ADHD or some other neurodivergence). You might just be in a season where your emotions are running high and you can’t seem to get yourself back on track.
When we can’t focus, it tends to have a big impact on our self-esteem and our sense of connections in relationships. You might be hearing your partner complain that you just aren’t listening or taking in the information they are giving you. You might feel self-conscious at work when everyone else seems to know what’s been going on at the meeting and you are completely panicked trying to catch up.
If you are struggling to pay attention to the tasks you have at work and at home, then NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback can help you train your brain to be more focused and show more mental acuity.
Does your child struggle to focus and you need a way to support them?
“My child is having the hardest time and I’ve tried everything!”
I am the step mom of two kids with ADHD. Each of them has their own way of working with their neurodivergence (we call it “neurospicy” in our household!), but both struggle to get homework done, pay attention to the conversations we want to have with them, and they definitely miss half the instructions their coaches give them at practice— which makes them stressed out by the time they get home.
We have used medication, therapy, and behavioral methods to help our kids pay attention to details so they feel less stressed or self-conscious in their social worlds. We have changed diets and watched their exposure to certain things, in hopes that it would provide some change for them.
Then we discovered NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback. We have a multi-faceted approach to supporting our children with ADHD and other attention deficit issues and we’ve integrated neurofeedback into our overall wellness program.
NeurOptimal® does not require a diagnosis and does not treat ADHD, but it can help with overall mental fitness and improve:
Self-esteem and lowered self-consciousness
Stress management and ability to relax
Emotional reactivity
Resilience and openness to feedback
Improved concentration and problem-solving
Focus and attention
Better ability to relate to others
How neurofeedback can help you or your family member struggling with focus and attention?
NeurOptimal® is a professional-grade non-linear neurofeedback system. It’s a different kind of neurofeedback than the older systems and really makes neurofeedback easy to do and approachable for the entire family.
Essentially, NeurOptimal® is helping the brain self-correct by giving it really helpful information. Just think about what the brain is doing when you are learning a new task. When you fail at that task at the beginning, your brain marks this as a “difference” and self-corrects so you can continue to do better each time you try the new task. NeurOptimal® is marking the “different” signals your central nervous system is sending from your brain and giving that information back to the brain so that we can learn from that information and self-correct.
FAQs
Is neurofeedback safe for children?
Yes, neurofeedback is non-invasive and a non-medical brain training strategy for all ages. There are no known side effects and we have ways to make neurofeedback interesting enough for your child to sit through a session.
Do I come to the office for treatment?
Nope, the NeurOptimal® system is so easy to use that we ship it to your home. We can walk you through the (very easy) set up or you can follow our printed instructions. We send you everything that you need to get started.
How long are each of the sessions?
Each session is 33.5 minutes. There’s relaxing music playing during the session, while the neurofeedback system does all the work at giving your brain helpful information. We can also provide you with some movies to watch if you need more entertainment.
I don’t think my kid can last 33.5 minutes. Now what?
This is common at the beginning of brain training with young ones. Any amount of brain training is helpful, even if they start with just a few minutes. The goal is to build the amount of time they can train over time.
What is a “brain map” and do I need one?
A brain map is used by linear neurofeedback systems, but we use non-linear neurofeedback and don’t need a brain map to get started. You simply start the system up and get to brain training.
